50 years ago, Alicia Delgado experienced every single mother's worst nightmare. Two of her children, daughters Betty and Nancy, were taken away from her by their fathers.
And she had no idea where either of them were. But she always had faith she would see them again.
Every holiday her entire family would wonder where their sisters or aunts were, and hoped that they were okay.
Then this past June, the lost aunt's 15-year-old niece, Yaniris Ramos, had wondered enough. And she decided that she was going to find both Betty and Nancy.
None of her aunts or uncles believed that she would find their sisters, but after just a few Facebook searches, she found both of them and they were living in Florida within 40 miles of each other.
The siblings immediately began calling to tell each other the amazing news, and then plans were made to bring both Betty and Nancy home to see their mom and siblings again.
On the day that the two women were set to arrive, no one could keep still. Every single sibling was too anxious about seeing their little sisters again for that.
And when the two women walked down the escalator, it was one big emotional reunion. There was hugging and crying all around, and it later turned into sobs of joy when both Betty and Nancy finally saw their mother after 50 years.
“It’s been amazing,” Nancy said. “It’s like a prayer has been answered.”
And now the siblings, nieces, and nephews all have some serious catching up to do and they’re not wasting a single minute.
