Father Leaps Out Of Car In Busy Intersection To Save Daughter’s Life

There's an old adage meant to convey unconditional love that says something along the lines of "I would jump in front of a car for you," (with the intention, of course, for a happy ending all around).

But it's not very often that such a display of heroism sees a literal translation play out like in this momentarily horrifying traffic surveillance footage, which shows an intersection in Wenzhou, China.

International Business Times reports that a little girl had gotten ahold of a door handle and accidentally slipped out of the car while the vehicle was still moving. Her father immediately jumped out of the vehicle — the car still in drive — and ran to scoop up his daughter who lay in the middle of the intersection. IBT states the car got about 10 meters before hitting a tree, but that no one was seriously injured.

"It turned out that the child climbed from the back of the seat to the front while her father was driving, accidentally opened the door and fell out," Wenzhou police officer Chen Shu told IBT. "When it happened, the taxi and all the other cars weren't going too fast, and the taxi braked immediately so it did not hit the child."

If anything, we're thankful that this little girl wasn't put in harm's way. But this certainly serves as a reminder of the importance of child safety locks — always, and every time.
