Self-Proclaimed ‘Feminist’ Dad Coaches Only All-Girls Team In Boys T-Ball League

When I was younger, my parents always encouraged me to play competitive sports. I was on soccer, basketball, softball, and volleyball teams at any point during the year. And to this day, this competitive spirit has stuck with me. Everyday, I thank my parents for allowing me to learn to graciously win — or lose — in this way.

In my family, there was no talk about how I "couldn’t" accomplish a goal or compete in a sport because I was girl. But I did hear it from some peers, and it didn’t make me feel very good inside. And many girls nowadays are still being told this, which is, of course, absurd!

But one self-proclaimed "feminist" dad is changing that. He also happens to be the head coach of an all-girls T-ball team, on which his 5-year-old daughter plays.

The team is the only one of its kind in the entire league.

All the other teams have as many as one girl player. Most of them have none.

And Doyin Richards, the dad in question, thinks this is a shame. And now, he’s teaching the girls that just because they’re girls doesn’t mean they can’t compete against the boys. Girls can do everything boys do, and sometimes, they can do it better.

The tough little girls may be young, but they’re quickly learning these important lessons. And hopefully, one day, they’ll take them beyond the field!
