When Her 3-Year-Old Dents The Neighbor’s Car, Mom Receives A Touching “Bill”

My parents like to talk about how, when they were kids, everyone used to know their neighbors. An apartment building or a row of houses wasn't just a place where people lived; it was a community.

Even when I was a kid it wasn't unusual to have a neighbor drop by to borrow a cup of sugar and check in on how our day was going.

Today, things aren't quite like that. More than ever, people value their privacy. The result is that our neighbors are strangers, and thus not typically people we expect kindness from.

Although it may seem this way, it isn't always the case. One couple mourning the loss of a child was flabbergasted when a waitress comped their meal after learning of their tragedy.

Today, another woman is astounded by the sheer kindness and understanding she received from her neighbors.

When her 3-year-old son opened the car door one day, he accidentally slammed into the neighbor's car. The accident caused a huge dent in the car.

Mom decided to notify the neighbors and let them know that she would pay for the damage herself since going through the insurance company would be more costly and time-consuming.

A week later she tracked her neighbors down and asked them for the cost of repairs. Then they handed her the note below.

This is the "bill" the neighbors sent her.

The very last line reads:

“These things happen… Minus – £1,838 [the total]”
