Something great happens when artists involve their children in their projects — their fans become invested. Eminem, who's often poured out his heart and soul in his lyrics, is no different.
His daughter, Hailie Jade, has always been part of his music. In fact, in some songs, she's even helped him out with a verse or two. One of the first instances was back in 1998, during the song "97 Bonnie and Clyde." The lyrics are a bit rough, but it was an odd bonding moment for the two.
"I lied to [Hailie's mother] Kim and told her I was taking Hailie to Chuck E. Cheese that day," he told Rolling Stone, per People. "But I took her to the studio. When she found out I used our daughter to write a song about killing her, she (expletive) blew. We had just got back together for a couple of weeks. Then I played her the song, and she bugged the (expletive) out." Most of us probably would have done the same.
While Eminem's relationship with Hailie's mom was always a bit questionable, he always seemed to have nothing but love and respect for his daughter. And that's why it's hard to believe that Hailie is now 25 years old. She's also trying her best to be an Instagram influencer and has quite the following.
Hailie currently has over 2 million followers on Instagram. And one of the pictures that's getting everyone's attention is a swimsuit photo. She obviously prioritizes fitness, as she's rocking six-pack abs in the photo. It's a very strong reminder that she's not a kid anymore.
Eminem actually credits Hailie for being such a strong and supportive figure in his life — even when she was only 7. He wrote "Hailie's Song" just for her, with the lyrics of "My insecurities could eat me alive / But then I see my baby / Suddenly I'm not crazy / It all makes sense when I look into her eyes."
So, how's Hailie's relationship with her dad these days? Stronger than ever. On a podcast from last year, Eminem stated that "Hailie is 23, no babies, she has a boyfriend, but she's doing good, she's made me proud for sure, she's graduated from college." And according to Metro, Hailie has talked about him publicly, as well.
She was asked if she still sees her dad regularly, especially while being in college. "Of course, we are very close," Hailie responded. While Hailie is Eminem's only biological daughter, she's not his only daughter. The rapper adopted two girls who were close with the family.
Alaina Marie Mathers is technically Eminem's niece, but she was fully adopted into the family. Tragically, in 2016, her mother died from an overdose. "My niece has been a part of my life ever since she was born," Eminem once said, per The Sun. "Me and Kim pretty much had her, she'd live with us wherever we was at."
Whitney Scott Mathers was born to Kim Mathers in between her marriages to Eminem. Unfortunately, her biological father ran off before she was born. So the rapper kindly adopted her as his own. And he's tried his best to be the father figure she deserves.
So what has Hailie Mathers done recently? She's using her following to give some lifestyle and beauty advice. Her Instagram is filled with makeup tutorials, and she's never afraid to list the brands she's wearing. While she doesn't seem to be all that interested in the music scene like her dad, her brief appearances on his earlier songs have actually earned her a lot of cred.
She actually has a Guinness World Record for being the "Youngest R&B Chart Entrant." And that happened when she was only 6, helping her dad with the tune "My Dad's Gone Crazy." But she's not the youngest to ever appear on the Billboard chart. That honor goes to Blue Ivy Carter.
These days, Hailie also seems quite content with her boyfriend. She's reportedly dating Evan McClintock, whom she met in college. The two seem to be serious — and have celebrated plenty of holidays together — so it wouldn't be outlandish to hear about a proposal in the future.
While he hasn't publicly made a statement on the couple (since, despite his lyrics, Eminem has tried to have a mostly private life), it seems like the rapper definitely approves. When it comes to Hailie, you know that Eminem wants only the best for her. She, after all, still has such a big impact on his life.
As a dad, it might be a little strange for him to see all of Hailie's swimsuit photos online — after all, she'll always be a baby in his eyes. But it seems like she's growing up and trying to branch out. All that matters is that she appears to be quite happy with her life, and that's something every dad loves to see.
