Tights, or "stockings," as my mama used to call 'em, are an essential part of many women's wardrobes. Yet, they're probably the most fragile. After just one wear, tights can snag on something and completely unravel.
I can't count how many times I've had a pair unravel at a party or even in the middle of the street. Not only is it a little embarrassing, it can be pretty cold if it's chilly out.
Fortunately, Allison from Pop Sugar has got two easy household solutions. If you're looking to get more out of your tights, try this tutorial to turn them into a cool shirt.
The first is the classic clear nail polish trick. When the tight is torn, simply apply clear nail polish on either side of the tear.
This will prevent the fibers from unfurling and allow you to get a few more uses out of them. The next trick is my favorite. Simply spray hairspray onto the hole in the tights!
"The way it works is it stiffens the fibers so it temporarily stops them from snagging,"says Allison. While it's only a temporary fix to get you through the day, it's a lot more convenient.
You or someone you know will probably have hairspray lying around. It's much easier to spray and go, than to take off your tights and apply nail polish.
