Harvey, 92, and Mildred, 90, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Surrounded by 150 of their closest family and friends at the senior center in Newkirk, OK, Harvey decided to make this anniversary particularly special.
First, Harvey gave his cell phone to one of his granddaughters, Lisa. He didn't say what he was going to do, but he told Lisa to press record on the phone's video camera. That's when Harvey got down on one knee in front of Mildred, and started serenading her with a song — but not just any song.
Holding his wife's hand tightly in his, Harvey sings “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” by Bing Crosby, but he changed the lyrics to make them more personal. Absolutely precious!
Mildred, as you'll see, is absolutely stunned by her husband's sweet serenade.
“Everybody had tears in their eyes and clapped when he was done,” said Lisa Epperly, who posted a video of the serenade on Facebook. “We've never heard him sing except in church.”
Harvey and Mildred met in a café, fell in love, and got married in 1966. Today, they have 35 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
True love never, ever fades. Please SHARE this touching moment with your friends on Facebook!
