Brave Patient Plays The Beatles While Undergoing Brain Surgery

No one ever wants to hear that they need to have surgery. It's a scary thing to even think about, being put under while a room full of people cut you open and operate, not knowing what the final outcome might be, or what complications could occur before, during, or afterwards.

Knowing that every single day people go into surgery and come out doing better than before is one way to calm yourself down and mentally prepare for what's ahead, but what would you do if you were told you absolutely needed surgery…an invasive surgery like having a brain tumor removed? And then to top it off, your doctor tells you that he will need you to stay awake the entire time while also doing something that requires not only your focus but your ability to complete a task all while the surgery is happening?

For many people, this scary idea has become a reality. We have seen it done with a violinist in the past, when doctor's asked her to play while they operated on a tumor in her brain. But it's not because the surgeon needs a little mood music. This is actually a genius and relatively new way to ensure that surgery goes as planned.

Because this man was having a tumor removed in an area of the brain that is near areas that control movement and speech, doctor's use this method to make sure that they do not negatively effect any of the surrounding spots. So, they had him do something he does daily…play the guitar and sing. In addition to this being an innovative and very cool way of ensuring a safe recovery after surgery, both the patient and surgeon agreed that the music he played also relaxed them during the procedure!

Check out how calmly he is able to play, and please SHARE!
