Navy veteran Kendrick Taylor was heading to the gym when he saw a purse snatcher try to rob a 76-year-old woman in a parking lot in Florida. The 24-year-old man heroically ran over, chased the alleged robber, and held him down until police arrived. After Ellen DeGeneres caught wind of his incredible actions, she invited him to the show to tell his story. But of course, she had plenty of surprises in store for him.
When DeGeneres asked Taylor why he did it, he said it's because that's how his mom, who lives in Chicago, raised him.
"She always taught me to stand up for what’s right," he said.
That's when DeGeneres surprises Taylor, revealing that she'd flown his mom who lives in Chicago to the show… and she was backstage! The man is shocked and runs to hug his mom. The surprises didn't stop there. The talk show host also gave them gift cards to pay for flights, food and a shopping spree this Thanksgiving. Finally, she gave the Florida State University student one final gift: a $10,000 check to put towards his college education.
