Sometimes when you're creative, it can be hard to limit yourself to just one path. After all, there's inspiration everywhere, and there are so many interesting ways to create art!
That's what happened to Holly Fox of Los Angeles.
When faced with the decision to become a graphic designer or a baker, she found it too hard to pick just one. So she picked both!
It might seem like baking and graphic design have nothing in common, but if you've ever drooled over a perfectly beautiful pastry or cake, then you know that a great deal of baking is about the final presentation.
And with a little cleverness and attention to detail, you can of course turn anything into art, like the artist who turns plain old drywall into sculptures.
Check out some of Fox's cookie creations below, and you'll see just how beautiful design and great baking go hand in hand.
Her cookies are so cute, it almost seems like a shame to eat them! Almost…

Holly Fox works in Los Angeles as a graphic designer and a baker, where she uses her background in design to create colorful and quirky cookies that show her love of bright colors, like these Pantone swatch cookies.
She takes her inspiration from anywhere. If you can think of it, she can probably turn it into a cookie.
Fox mixes her own colors of royal icing to create the huge rainbow of hues you'll see here. They range from very bright to more subdued, like these feathers in pretty ocean tones.
She also likes to take objects that you might not normally associate with cookies and "cookie-fy" them, like these cute little campers!
And when we said she'd turn anything into a cookie, we were not kidding. These cookies take on the form of some comfy jeans!
She even likes playing with designs that might not be very cute in real life — like these jellyfish — but in her hands, they become adorable!
And so do these sweet, colorful ghosts!
She's even paid cookie homage to undies. And really, a favorite and trustworthy pair of undies does deserve some celebration.
And of course, Easter egg cookies are perfect for experimenting with designs and colors.
A graphic designer by trade, Fox has always loved baking as much as she loved creating colorful designs.
So it seemed only natural to merge them. Today, she combines her baking and design skills by creating custom-made cookies on Etsy.
The cookies can be made for any occasion, with designs and color schemes to match anything.
"I started baking about five years ago on a whim," Fox says, "to try and see if I could figure out this whole royal icing thing. Since then, I have been mixing many, many colors and piping many, many jewels… and I absolutely love it!"
To create her designs and get such a level of detail, Fox uses piping bags with small openings like this. The icing, called royal icing, is made from egg whites and sugar and can be dyed any color. It dries hard, so the designs are sturdy.
And Fox loves her icing bags so much, she even celebrated them in cookie form!
And she's always experimenting with colors, shapes, and designs.
Her cookies aren't always complex, nor do they have to be to be striking.
One of her favorite things to create are faceted gems in all colors.
The cookies are also an expression of Fox's love of color and form, which helps her work as a graphic designer, which she describes as "carefully choosing fonts and naming colors."
It's always fun to see what kinds of things she comes up with next, and her creativity seems endless!
And it just goes to show you that even if you just try something "on a whim," as Fox did, you might just find that you're pretty amazing at it!
Check out more of her cookies on Instagram, and you can even get a batch of your own on Etsy. And SHARE these great cookies with anyone who's been wanting to try a new hobby!
