Can You Figure Out The Number Of Triangles In This Picture?

I would like to think that I'm pretty savvy at figuring out simple math problems and puzzles.

However, many of these seemingly simple problems, like this one that uses fruits instead of numbers to pose a math question, have stumped so many people on the internet.

We've got yet another exclusive head-scratching brainteaser for you below. Can you see if you can figure out how many triangles there are in the image below?

You'll probably start off by counting all the different-colored triangles, then add them up to find out the total number of triangles.

This puzzle isn't that simple, however. Luckily, we have an amazing three-step breakdown to help you figure out the answer.

Try your best to figure out the answer first, though — no cheating!

First, let's count all the small triangles that can be found in the image.

Each square of four triangles contains 8 small triangles. There are 4 squares in total.

So, 4 squares x 8 small triangles = 32 triangles. But we're not done yet!

Next, zoom out, and look for the large triangles. You'll see that there are large triangles.

So, 4 large triangles + 32 small triangles = 36 triangles. But we're still not done!

Lastly, let's count up the medium triangles. You should count 8 medium triangles.

In fact, each medium triangle is half the size of one large triangle.

Ready to add it all up? Here's the equation: 16 + (8×2) + (4×2) + (1×2) + (1×2) = ?
