Jenna Bush Hager’s 10-Year-Old Daughter Is Obsessed With Skin Care And She’s Not Alone

Social media has a big impact on children. This even applies to kids who are not on the apps because of the influence the trends have on their peers. This perplexes mother of three Jenna Bush Hager. One way she sees this in her 10-year-old daughter Mila is in her interest in skin care at a young age.

Jenna sometimes wishes her daughter would focus more on playing with dolls than facial scrubs. She wants to make sure her daughter knows that she is already beautiful and does not need all the products. Jenna and Hoda Kotb discussed this on Monday, January 29, 2024’s episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna.

Hoda brought up the topic because of a recent article that caught her eye. "All these kids who are 12 and younger are apparently obsessed with skin care? USA Today did a story," she explained.

Jenna didn’t need the article to know this was going on. It’s happening in her own house. “Let me just go ahead and state this: I have children who are into skin care,” she confessed. “They do not have cellphones. They don’t even have iPads. So it is happening, it’s spreading down. I think it’s spreading from TikTok — but it’s spreading into the pores of our culture.”

Both Jenna and Hoda have mixed feelings about this. Jenna told her daughter that she already has beautiful skin even without the products. Hoda worries that young kids will use products such as retinol, which could be harmful to their youthful exterior.

"But it’s also, where are the Barbies? Where is the Nintendo? It’s so bizarre to me that their playground is a drugstore where, when we were little, we wanted to go to like, Toys 'R' Us and such," Hoda mused.

Jenna thinks it’s social media’s fault. "My kids do not have TikTok and they’re still into it," she explained. "Their friends get TikTok which then becomes the fabric of our culture."
