Jennifer Lopez’s holiday weekend with new husband Ben Affleck went so well she just had to write about it.
The icon opened up about her Christmas festivities in her On the JLo newsletter, where she revealed why this year’s excitement was multiplied.
“We have blended families, doubled the people, doubled the fun, doubled the love, doubled the presents and tripled the chaos!”
This marks Jennifer’s first Christmas married to Ben. Their blended family includes twins Max and Emme, 14, whom Lopez shares with ex Marc Anthony, and Affleck’s kids — Violet, 16; Seraphina, 13; and Samuel, 10 — whom he shares with ex Jennifer Garner.
The festivities included pre-pandemic traditions that Jennifer was happy to see make a comeback.
"For the past 8 years we've been doing a Christmas Edition Taco Tuesday, where we get together and dress up and sing Christmas carols. During the pandemic that went to the wayside, so this was the first time in a long time we were able to get together with people that we haven't seen in forever," Jennifer shared.
She added that her party was "filled with family, friends, colleagues, and people we've known from over the years."
"We sang and danced and had the most amazing time!"
The party, which sounds like a total hit, was also a great opportunity for Jennifer to show off her striking hummingbird-themed holiday gown.
Yes, like many celebrities in the entertainment industry, Jennifer themes her Christmas celebrations, too.
“I like to create a theme for every holiday. I wrote a song called Hummingbird for my new album, This Is Me… Now.”
“To me, hummingbirds are messengers of love,” she elaborated.
“They’re very agile — can fly forward, backward, and up and down. They’re also the fastest bird but they always have time to stop, eat something sweet and smell the roses. I identify with them, but more than anything, whenever I see one, I feel like it’s a sign from God that everything is going to be OK,” she wrote.
In addition to her theme, love was the focus of Jennifer’s holiday weekend. Leaked videos from the couple’s party featured her and Ben hugging in front of a crowd of friends and family while Jennifer sings Christmas songs into a mic.
The couple tied the knot back in July in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony before hosting a second ceremony for friends and family in August.
They were previously engaged back in 2003 before breaking up in 2004.
Jennifer wrote that even her decorations were a reminder to focus on love: “I wanted to have a tree in the house that was a hummingbird tree, reminding us that everything done in love and with love will always be OK.”
