Jeremiah Mitchell was just 6 years old when he was diagnosed with meningitis in 2010.
This horrific and usually deadly disease left him almost unrecognizable from who he'd been before the infection, as doctors had to amputate his limbs in order to save his life.
But as the inspiring coverage below shows, he began striving for a better life just 96 days after his surgeries.
He and two other students from his elementary school caught the disease, but Jeremiah was the only one to survive. Although he's young, he's made it clear that he's much stronger than most. He's been playing games, writing, and coloring, and after his showing of determination, he might even be able to get prosthetics.
Doctors originally didn't think that it would happen for him, because of the great struggle it'd be to try to fit him, but they couldn't let him down after seeing his bright spirit continue forward each day.
Stories like this remind us all to appreciate everything we have in our lives. Jeremiah suffered a devastating lifestyle change at just 6 years old, but he's not letting it keep him down.
If he can get through this, we can get through our bad days too!
