When you’re scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook and come upon a video about someone making a costume, do you sit and watch the whole thing? Watching these designers go into extreme detail with their skills and showing viewers a step-by-step process of how they create these costumes is extremely satisfying to watch.
Once I start these videos, I always end up climbing down the rabbit hole and watching at least 30 minutes of costume designers showing off their breathtaking skills. This particular video, though, is very impressive.
TikTok user CrescentShay goes through her step-by-step process of how she creates an hourglass body shape for her Jessica Rabbit costume. In her description under her video, she says, “My goal for this project was to use drag queen techniques to see if I could fake Jessica’s extreme body proportions and it really worked.”
At the beginning of her video, you see her wrapping plastic wrap around her hips numerous times, which allows her to trace her hip shape. She then uses her plastic wrap outline to cut out large pieces of foam to create hip pads. Shortly after that, we see her stuffing the hip pads into a stretchy pair of leggings and then topping it with a corset.
At first, it does look a little funny, but you must trust the process! CrescentShay even laughs at herself in the mirror, so don’t feel bad for giggling! She then shows herself at Walmart buying bras that are not exactly her size but are needed to fill out Jessica Rabbit’s shape.
CresentShay then shows herself in the mirror turned to the side, to show viewers how she looks before she transforms herself into the show-stopping Jessica Rabbit. I will tell you now, the end result is mind-blowing.
CrescentShay also says in her video description, “Through the magic of hip pads, stacking, and stuffing bras, and corsetry I was able to go from an A cup to a DD cup, with a 25-inch waist! For those curious about more information on the build, I already made a full YouTube video on this project, so you can. Find all the details there!”
