Jane Fonda Comforts Kathy Griffin As She Deals With Heartbreak And Divorce

Kathy Griffin is leaning on her friends for support. The 63-year-old comedian and actress is getting divorced, and has admitted that she's heartbroken. On December 28, 2023, she filed for divorce from Randy Bick, 45, citing "irreconcilable differences."

After the news broke, she took to Instagram to summarize how she was feeling: "Well…s—. This sucks." In a more recent post, she revealed that spending time with friends like Jane Fonda is helping her deal with the heartbreak. "My girlfriends are going to get me through this," she wrote.

"Last night I had to use the bat phone," she continued. "Me…'Fonda, it’s Griffin. My heart is broken. I can’t eat I can’t sleep.' Jane…'Come on over kid. I’ll make you something. You’ll eat and I’ll listen.' ."

Kathy and Randy started dating in 2011 and got married in 2020. Their wedding ceremony was officiated by Lily Tomlin.

They tied the knot on New Year's Day, meaning they were just about to celebrate their fourth anniversary when Kathy filed for divorce. Their date of separation was listed as December 22, 2023, according to People.

Though Kathy admitted she's heartbroken, she also seems fairly optimistic. On Instagram, she shared that she went to Las Vegas to see comedian Luenell on New Year's Eve, the day before what would've been her wedding anniversary.

"Definitely entered 2024 in good company!" Kathy wrote. "Last night @siamusic flew us to see the glorious @luenell in Vegas..and these girls never disappoint! Happy New Year! 2024 is going to kick a–!! "

It also looks like she has been staying busy. On January 2, she posted two pictures on Instagram: one with Tiffany Helzer from My Life on the D List and another with Howie Mandel and his daughter Jackelyn Shultz.

A source told the Daily Mail that Kathy and Randy grew apart because he's more of a homebody while she "loves living life."

"Kathy was in love and is still in love with her ex and as heartbroken she is with how this all has turned out, Kathy loves living life," the source told the outlet. "She always wants to have fun. She wants to travel and do things with a man she loves who has the same aspirations."

Because of their differing perspectives and lifestyles, divorce felt like the only option, the source claimed. "Kathy hates that it has ended this way, but she needed to be Kathy again, and this was the only way she was going to get there," the source said.
