A Staten Island woman was stunned when she found 13 abandoned kittens on the side of the road over the weekend. Tracy Parisi, who works as a volunteer for the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare, rushed to the aid of the tiny babies.
The precious kittens, believed to be 6–7 weeks old, were left there with a box of leftover pizza to eat. The mother cat was nowhere to be found, despite Parisi's attempts to locate her. As of today, the abandoned kittens are doing just fine and being examined by a veterinarian.
Although it's not uncommon to find animals left in cardboard boxes, Parisi is upset by the growing number of animals dumped on the street.
"I'm still stunned," said Parisi told SILive. "I know the area is a dumping ground. This happens on a regular basis where people just dump them on the street. This should not happen ever. It's abandonment."
Two of the kittens have already been adopted, but the other 11 are still up for adoption. Parisi is taking care of the cats at her home for now. If anyone is interested in adopting the kittens, contact Ms. Parisi at tpsiny@yahoo.com.
