Cancer Patient Outlives Doctor’s Prognosis By More Than 18 Years

When Kristin Johnson St. Goddard was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, her doctors told her, essentially, to get her affairs in order.

The illness has already spread to her lungs, and her oncologists said she had 18 months, perhaps two years, to live with the disease. But it turns out that metastatic breast cancer had never come up against an opponent quite like Kristin before.

Like this woman who credits her unusual pet with helping her get through cancer treatment, Kristin had no intention of going down without a fight, and she quickly put all of her considerable energy toward battling the disease.

Today, Kristin has been through 17 different rounds of treatment, and more rounds of chemotherapy than she can count. She has now survived with stage 4 cancer for 18 years.

She calls herself, “the healthiest sick person you’ll know,” saying that she does everything she can to keep her illness from interfering with her day-to-day life. Friends and family compare her to the Energizer Bunny, never letting a single, precious minute go to waste.

Like this cancer survivor who came out on the other side stronger and healthier than ever, Kristin is constantly pushing through for the next new treatment, the next medical advance that might help her vanquish the disease for good.
