The lyrebird is one of the most remarkable species in the wild that has a superb ability to mimic sounds. The bird's ability to mimic nature and artificial sounds like car horns and camera shutters is truly remarkable and mind blowing! You have to see it to believe it!
In this clip from the 1998 BBC documentary series The Life of Birds, the lyrebird is captured singing in its natural habitat. At first, the bird copies the sounds of all the other birds around him.
Next, the bird moves on to music more complex sounds. At 1:53, the bird mimics a camera shutter, and another one with a motor drive at 2:08. It also does some impressive impersonations of a car alarm (2:13) and chainsaws (2:28).
