Meet Forrest Fenn. Fenn hid a treasure chest deep in the Rocky Mountains. A romanesque treasure chest, to be exact, filled with gold and rare artifacts.
The treasure chest he hid in 2010 includes gold nuggets, gold coins, a bunch of diamonds, 280 rubies, two ceylon sapphires, and eight emeralds.
Fenn’s motivation behind creating a treasure chest and then choosing to hide it was to give motivation to those who were hit hard by the recession. He feels that this chest can give inspiration to people looking to explore the wild.
The thrill of this treasure hunt has lead many to the Rocky Mountains in pursuit of the treasure as well a worthwhile adventure. The Rocky Mountains can be extremely dangerous, however, and should be navigated with precaution.
Cythnia Meachum, who is a professional treasure hunter, has dedicated the last three years and a half to trying to find this chest. Regardless of the fact that she hasn’t found it yet, it doesn’t stop her from continuing to search for it.
Meachum believes that the real treasure exists in the hunt itself. Plus, having the scenery that she does while in route can't hurt.
