In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the St. Patrick's Day parade was in full effect last Saturday, March 18. Jason Ingber found himself marching after his girlfriend, Kim Ekberg, asked him to walk with her family in the annual parade.
"We were both very, very Irish; very into the culture," he said.
But it was her offer to march in the parade that gave Ingber an idea.
"I saw it as a good opportunity. She wanted to be in the parade, so after I thought about it, I was like let's do this," Ingber said.
What better way to celebrate their love than at the St. Patrick's Day parade?
And so the couple walked with the parade floats on the sunny afternoon, with Kim clueless about the ring in his pocket.
"As soon as the music started, we started walking for the first time, and my heart was pounding. So, yes, I was trying to distract myself by waving at all the kids," he said.
And to start the big move, he pulled the oldest trick in the book.
"He said his shoe was untied and said he was going to stop and we were in front of all these people and I was like you are going to hold up the whole parade. I was very shocked," Kim said.
Luckily for him, the crowd didn't mind the big event. Thankfully, she said yes!
