In ”A Ballerina’s Tale,” Misty Copeland Tells Us Her Inspirational Story

As the first black female principal dancer at the American Ballet, Misty Copeland made history and won our hearts with her humility and talent. Her graceful moves were most recently seen on The Late Show, where she performed with the legend, Yo-Yo Ma.

But if you ever wondered how Misty got her start in ballet, and how she became so successful, you'll want to watch IFC's newest documentary, A Ballerina's Tale.

The documentary follows Misty's transformation from 13-year-old beginner to a very skilled world-renowned dancer constantly looking to improve.

She discovered ballet at a young age, and from the start she had a "fire" that drove her to perfect her craft. But all the odds were stacked against her, from her race to her body type.

"I shouldn't have been a part of one of the world's greatest ballet companies," she says.

As she progressed, she was plagued with injuries she thought would hinder her rise to fame. When she eventually pulled through and her talent started getting attention, she knew she was going to part of a movement much bigger than herself.

We love her for what she has accomplished and what she undoubtedly will. Find out how Misty's changing the world by watching the trailer!
