Baby Mitchell Pollock's story is an incredible one. Not only did he beats the odds and live through the night of his birth, but with his mom by his side, he gained a whole new lease on life.
Tiny Mitchell was born 13 weeks premature via an emergency C-section. He was a mere 2 lbs. 2 oz.
Aside from his miniature stature, doctors realized that something was very wrong with the newborn. He had blood clots inside his kidneys, keeping them from functioning properly.
His mom, Jenn Pollock, recalls in the video posted on September 15, 2014, below that, "The words from Dr. Wassner were, 'We're not sure if he's going to make it through the night.'"
Dr. Wassner explains, "Mitchell was not near death; he was actually in the process of dying."
Luckily, with the help of about 15 nurses, multiple surgeons, and other practitioners, Mitchell proved his doctor's prediction wrong. He was able to go home with his family, but that was when his journey really began. Mitchell had to endure 11 hours of dialysis every night. Their lifestyle was difficult to maintain and Jenn decided that she wanted to go the extra mile for her son. She wanted to donate her own kidney to Mitchell.
In the video, Mitchell's father, Doug Pollock, is surrounded by formulas and equipment and says, "I'm packing, even this table. I want it all out of the house. When this is done, I don't want to be reminded of any of this c***. I want to have a healthy baby sleeping upstairs in his room, not in my bed." He didn't want to be reminded of his son's troubled past and only wanted to see his bright future ahead.
Eventually, both Jenn and Mitchell went into surgery, not before Doug kissed them both "Bye for now."
