Mom Keeps Poofy 1986 Hairstyle For 35 Years Until Daughter Begs Her To Get Makeover

A desperate daughter named Kayla emailed The Rachael Ray Show on behalf of her mother, Cathy. It was a style emergency: Cathy seemed to be stuck in the year 1986.

Cathy hadn't been to a hair salon in about 25 years. She was starting to get comments from all of her friends, in addition to Kayla, who was begging her to get a haircut.

For decades, Cathy struggled with her long, frizzy, knotted hair. Her "intense bangs" were big and poofy, and she'd always buy boxed hair dye from the drugstore in the wrong shade of blond. When it came to her wardrobe, she was all about comfort — nothing but sweatpants, pajamas, and leggings.

Cathy prefers to spend her time and money on her three kids and one grandchild, rather than on primping and pampering herself. But with her son's wedding soon approaching, she was finally ready to change things up. She really wanted to look good for his big day but was admittedly nervous and afraid of change.

So, Rachael Ray enlisted the help of her talented hair and beauty experts… and as you're about to see, they totally transformed Cathy.

Kayla was so surprised by her mom's new look that she broke down in tears on stage. Even Cathy herself was speechless.
