Baby Wakes Up Crying Every Night Til Mom Puts 10 Pacifiers In Her Crib

Getting a baby to sleep through the night is a challenge for most parents. Infants wake up every few hours for care, but eventually they start to sleep longer and longer.

Some babies take longer than others to adjust to a sleep schedule, though, and it can be really tough on parents.

Laura Gerson's baby girl, Amelia, wasn't able to sleep through the night, and Laura wanted to do whatever she could to help her daughter rest easier.

Eventually, Laura realized that what was making Amelia cry during the night was losing her pacifier. Every time her pacifier fell out of her mouth, she would wake up and start to fuss, so Laura came up with a brilliant plan.

She started putting ten pacifiers (or dummies, as she calls them) in her daughter's crib at bedtime, so that whenever she woke up, she'd be able to find one on her own and soothe herself back to sleep.

Weird bedtime routine that’s worked… Lol

Since my little one was about 3 months old she's gone to bed with roughly 10 dummies in with her.

Found that when she cried of a night all she wanted was a dummy then she’d go back off.

Realised that if she had one to hand then she would just find it of a night, trial and error with her losing a few down the side but 99% of the time she feels around, finds a dummy, sticks it in and she’s sorted!

Haven’t had to go into her of a night for about 8 months now… WINNING!!

I don't even wanna think about the time when the "Dummy Fairy" comes to take them away tho

Laura also told LittleThings:

We’ve got a video monitor, and [I] was watching her one night, trying to find her dummy, when she woke up and couldn’t find it.

Just put a couple in there the next night, lost one down the side of the cot, so over the next few nights [I] just put more in there.

99% of the time she just wanted her dummy to soothe her back to sleep — of course we would know and see if it was anything different lol.

When she had lots in there she was quite calmed, falling asleep with them in her hands, too.

She isn’t a total dummy fiend and doesn’t even have them through the day, really, but it really soothes her, having them through the night, and having more in there makes it easy for her to find one and hold one (or two) lol.

Just made sense that, if that was all she wanted, to make it easier for her to get to them without getting herself stressed when she couldn’t.

Happy baby, happy mummy!

"Omg genius!" wrote another mom. "I always left at least 4-5 dummies around my girls! Haha."

Would you try this pacifier hack to help a baby sleep through the night?
