All parents want their children to feel accepted by their peers as they grow older, especially since bullying has become a widespread epidemic, but here's an instance where that desire may simply go too far.
The following clip is taken from a 2008 documentary entitled Pre-Teen Beauty Queen. In it, we meet the Bennington family from London and a mother who has taken full control over her pre-teen daughter's appearance.
When it comes to leaving the house and going out into public, Jane makes sure to go through a checklist of Sasha's clothing, hair, and general presentation. This time, a black skirt and black Ugg boots are on the "must-wear" list.
"All your friends and your peers are growing up," Jane says. "They go into town a lot younger than I did; you've got to join in, otherwise you're held back from your friends. Then it starts to get into bullying, and stuff like that."
The family is getting ready to go to dinner, but if Sasha doesn't wear what Mom wants her to wear, then she can't go out with the rest of the family. Sasha must always be dressed to impress.
But that's not all. Even with Sasha dressed in the right clothes, Jane makes her get up from the table and perform her entire cheerleading routine in the middle of the restaurant. Understandably, it's pretty embarrassing for Sasha.
Everyone has their own parenting style, but do you think Jane takes her obsession with Sasha's looks too far? Let us know what you think, and please SHARE this with your friends on Facebook!
