It Looks Like An Ordinary Box, But Inside? I’m Doing This For My Kids!

Growing up, my mother handmade all of my Halloween costumes. She loved taking raw materials and household items and transforming them into fun crafts, toys, and other objects you just can't buy in a store.

I did not inherit my mother's crafting gene, but that doesn't stop me from trying!

I love reading about fun DIY projects that parents can do for their kids, and I recently saw one craft project posted on the photo sharing website Imgur by a user named Raharuaharu. This user's wife made him an incredibly cool present using some basic crafting supplies and a wooden chest.

I think this is one crafting task I can handle. It's fun and funny! This user uses the chest to store dice, but it's great for storing almost anything: cards, coins, game pieces, pencils, etc. It's a little thing that will make my kid's bedroom a bit more whimsical, and it's not something you can just go pick up at K-Mart.

I'm going to make a pit-stop at the arts and crafts store after work tonight to get started. It's something my son and I will do together to make a fun new decoration that's also a great conversation piece.

Please SHARE if you think homemade toys and gifts are great for kids!

The user bought a simple wooden chest to begin.

The outside isn't much to look at, but inside...

...is a different story.

The little teeth make it look like a monster. It will definitely keep any snoopers out of there!

Just a little felt, superglue, and some scissors have made this box into an adorably scary "monster" that my kid will love.

The original poster stores dice in the box, but it's also a great idea for office supplies, crayons, buttons, change, and more. What would you store in there?

Actually, it reminds me of something from the Harry Potter books.
