Celebrities spend so much of their lives in the spotlight.
While some opt to stay offline as much as possible, in an effort to keep their personal lives private, others choose to share things with their followers on social media. Unfortunately, sometimes that opens them up to unnecessarily harsh judgment and criticism.
So many celebrity moms deal with mommy-shaming. Everyone from Chrissy Teigen to Jessica Simpson has been subjected to it. Others, like Telemundo morning show host Adamari López, have dealt with body-targeted shaming instead.
It's not uncommon for women to struggle with their postpartum body image. When you're a public figure, it can be even more difficult — especially when people choose to comment on and make rude remarks about your weight. But when Adamari was targeted by body-shamers, she responded with a surprising and unexpected vow to take their words to heart and actually lose weight.

Adamari is a Puerto Rican actress.
She's known for her roles in several Puerto Rican and Mexican soap operas, including the telenovela Mujer de Madera.
In addition to her acting career, Adamari is currently a host on Telemundo's morning show, Un Nuevo Día.
Being on TV and having a huge social media following, Adamari is no stranger to having her looks commented upon by strangers.
But after fans criticized her body in a recent Instagram post — and even started rumors that she was pregnant — the 46-year-old mom of one decided to respond.
On live TV, Adamari responded to criticisms about her body by making a shocking promise to lose weight.
According to People, Adamari actually agreed with her body-shamers that she needed to work on her fitness. She even announced the beginning of a new fitness challenge that will be chronicled on Un Nuevo Día.
She committed to going to the gym every day and admitted that she'd stopped doing so since giving birth to her daughter nearly three years ago.
"I have done other types of exercises but no personal training, and I have not done any cardio, et cetera," Adamari explained, according to People.
"I’m aware that I would like to lose weight for my health, but not to satisfy the people who think I should lose weight," she clarified.
Adamari explained that her co-host, Rashel Diaz, is joining her on her weight-loss quest.
"The commitment is to myself because I know that one must be healthy, so I dedicated myself [to fitness]," she explained. The morning show host intends to drop pounds, increase her heath, and also "generate muscle mass" to build strength. She even weighed herself on air to be totally transparent about her progress with viewers.
This isn't the first time Adamari has dealt with body-shamers. Last summer, after posting a photo of herself in a swimsuit at the beach, she was harshly criticized by strangers online. The backlash even prompted her to speak out about how a battle with breast cancer had caused her weight gain, telling Today:
I think that when people criticize, they criticize themselves more. I do not take it personal. Most likely, those individuals that criticize so brutally have a void in their lives, which reflects in trying to destroy or denigrate others, when in fact it is a reflection of what they have in their heart. What some may not understand is that I am happy with my life and the things I have achieved as a woman, a professional and now a mother.
After facing cancer, I have gone through several physical changes. My body has changed. I went from being thin (size 0-2) to size 6, and my weight has been up and down ever since. During my pregnancy, I gained more weight and I haven’t committed myself to losing it yet. I’m aware that I would like to lose weight for my health, but not to satisfy the people who think I should lose weight. I will not stop showing who I am, and I will continue to live happily every stage of my life.
