Every single child on Earth deserves the chance to smile and enjoy the early years of their lives just being kids.
But unfortunately, many children around the world and in our country are forced to spend much of their childhood indoors in hospital beds. While other kids their age get to play outside and go to school, all sorts of diseases and ailments require these kids to stay inside and fight for long hours, weeks, months, and even years.
While it's great that we have modern medicine and technology that can help defeat childhood diseases that, not very long ago, could result in the very worst, one thing that isn't discussed very often is the importance of hope.
These kids, surrounded by doctors all day, are usually forced to watch television and just wait long hours. While nearly all children's hospitals have special play areas, amazing staff, and childhood specialists on hand, sometimes a kid just needs to smile.
And when a group of kids at Savannah's Pediatric Specialty Ward saw who was walking through their hospital room doors? They had a big reason to smile again!

When you hear the name Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, your initial thoughts might go to his time as a WWE Heavyweight champion. Or perhaps his multiple starring roles as the hard-hitting action hero in The Fast and the Furious franchise.
But as he was filming a scene for his upcoming movie Baywatch in Savannah, GA, he caught wind that there was a local children's hospital nearby. While a lot of movie stars out there go back into their trailers during breaks, The Rock showed just what kind of a person he actually is when he decided to show up for a little surprise!
Visiting wrestling and movie fans all over the children's floor, The Rock brought smiles of joy to children who certainly could use it. Some of the kids rushed to their hero for a huge hug, while others just sat there in disbelief. This man took the time out of his busy schedule to bring some happiness to these children who certainly deserve it.
But it turns out that not all of his fans were in the children's ward. When the mother of a teenage patient got word of who was visiting the little kids, she begged the staff to ask The Rock to come upstairs too.
So when he finished meeting with all the little children, he took a trip upstairs to visit Christopher. He actually had to put a quick halt to the production of the movie for this moment, and everyone was certainly glad he did.
When he walked through the door, Christopher's face lit up, and his mom instantly broke down into tears. The two talked about how cool all his scars were and how they were all "badges of honor."
While he might be a modern day Hercules, this man really shows the world just how much of a softie he really is. You can never judge a book by its cover. Everyone in Hollywood should take a page out of his book and take time out of their busy schedules to thank the fans, big and small, for being so wonderful.
The Rock said it best after he met with little Aiden: "Gotta tell ya little stuff like this will always be the best part of fame."
