Texas Police Officer Saves Choking Woman After Pulling Her Over

When an Austin, Texas police officer pulled over a woman for using her cell phone while driving, he had no idea he would save her life.

As soon as officer Dustin Clinkscales approached the woman's vehicle, he realized something was wrong. She had simply been using her cell phone to call for help.

"Are you OK? You choking?" he is heard asking her.

He quickly pulled her out of the car and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Moments later, the driver was able to breathe again.

The incredible moment was caught on the officer's dash cam, similarly to the time a South Carolina police officer's camera recorded him saving a driver from a car fire.

Clinkscales' quick instinct is being praised because had he not done the Heimlich maneuver, it's likely the woman wouldn't have been alive today.

Commander Michael Eveleth told reporters: "It's really amazing how quickly he recognized that something was wrong, how quickly he acted, and cleared her passage way."

The recovering woman was actually the daughter of an Austin police detective Duncan Dunn, who also told reporters that she's grateful for Clinkscales.

"She's very thankful. She said she was lucky he was there," Dunn said.
