Varunie Vongsvirates and Owen Wilson were in a relationship for five years, and that relationship resulted in one child together. Varunie recently revealed to the Daily Mail that the pair's daughter, who is now 3 years old, has reportedly never met her father.
Varunie gave quite a few details to the publication about the nonexistent relationship between her daughter and Owen.
The actor also has two older sons with different mothers, and he reportedly sees both boys fairly regularly. Varunie clarified that Owen contributes financially: "He helps financially but it’s never been about that."
Varunie also commented that it's tough to see Owen playing a dad in his own movies when he's never met the little girl. "Lyla needs a father," she said. "It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he's playing a father in his new movie, and he's never met his own daughter."
Varunie also said that Owen was not present at the birth in October 2018. At the time, a source close to the situation said that the actor has never wanted to even see the baby. "He even checked the no visitation box in court in June," said the source. "He does not want to visit [and does not] want any custody of her."
Owen even went so far as to take a paternity test to find out if the little girl was his biological daughter. At the time, Us Weekly noted, "Owen has been a great father to his boys and has maintained a warm and close relationship with their mothers."
The situation is a far cry from how Owen reacted after his younger son, Finn, was born. As Us Weekly shared, "He has been visiting his new baby almost every day. He lives right around the corner and comes by for a little bit of time each afternoon. He is planning to be a part of the baby’s life and providing financial support."
Owen has even waxed poetic about the joy he gets from telling stories to his sons. He told Esquire, "Sometimes telling the stories at night, you do take a little pride that these guys are into this story! One of them even said, 'Dad, you should do something with this. This is a really good story!'"
This is clearly a far cry from the claims made by Varunie. Thus far, Owen has not issued a statement addressing her interview and its contents.
