It's wrong to say that tastes and preferences dictate who you are as a person.
But they definitely do say a lot about what you like to have in your life, and that's why they can identify elements of your personality.
One thing does unite all of us, however: food. You know what you like to eat, and you know what you don't like. Take pie, for example. Everyone has a favorite kind. The American Pie Council tallied all our favorites, and revealed that apple pie was the national favorite (at an impressive 19 percent).
But pies come in all shapes and sizes, in all colors, flavors, and textures. Just like people, they are each unique in their own ways, and reflect distinct characters.
Take a look at the pies featured below, and pick the one that you're the most drawn to, or that you most enjoy savoring, and see what key attributes are associated with it.

1. Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin pie isn’t reserved only for Thanksgiving — and if you’ve chosen this as your favorite pie, you would know. At a 13 percent “approval rate,” pumpkin is currently America’s second favorite kind of pie, after apple pie,
Very few festivity foods have deeper American roots than the pumpkin. It was one of the earliest "import" foods that the Europeans brought back from the New World. While the orange squash quickly became a big part of England's pie-making culture, it was also beloved by our country's first colonists, and has remained a staple ever since then.
You are most likely an emotionally stable and consistent person. Just as the pumpkin pie is classic, you too are effortlessly elegant. You dislike drama and unwarranted chaos. To you, having a peace of mind and living in a calm environment is very important. In addition, you are immensely reliable, and everyone around you knows it.

In Classic Home Desserts, a book featuring heirloom dessert recipes written by Richard Sax, the classic chess pie has southern roots. It's also a pie that easily adjusts to whatever ingredients you have on hand — hence, the many variations, from orange to cherry-flavored fillings.
If you love lemon chess pie, then you truly enjoy all the flavors of the south. You certainly have a sweet tooth, and have an affinity for comfort food. At your core, you are welcoming, understanding, and accepting — especially to strangers or outsiders. You are truly someone who understands the meaning of great southern hospitality.

Though not listed as one of the greater favorites by the American Pie Council, chocolate-based pies are just as glorious. A recipe of it dating back to 1770 appeared in an early 19th-century cookbook for "opulent families."
A chocolate cream pie's rich notes and flavors reflect a very genuine, loving, and passionate personality. You are likely the one who people go to when they need comforting, or when they’re looking for reassurance.

5. Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
It is often said that Benjamin Franklin was the one who brought rhubarb seeds (the vegetable originated from western China, Tibet, Siberia, and Mongolia) to America. Since then, it has been added into pies that have become wildly popular in both southern states and the New England region. The rhubarb plant is also known to be able to survive in cold, harsh climates.

If you love a peach pie, you love a good challenge. You love for your mind to be stimulated — and that definitely makes you a thinker, someone who learns from mistakes, mishaps, and trials. If there’s one thing that sets you apart from the people you know, it’s that you hate to fail.

In 1936, American botanist and inventor George Washington Carver tried to trace the origin of the sweet potato, but failed to find solid evidence. And like many other sweet potato recipes, the pie was likely adapted from elements of African cuisine, and is a staple of soul food today.
You love to be different than everybody else; you love to stand out. You’re not afraid to break away from the mold, or what is traditional or expected. And while you love a stable home life, you’re always looking to change up elements that will only help you improve what already exists.
In addition to shaking things up, you love to make sure that everyone around you is enjoying themselves as much as you are. That’s why you make the perfect party host: people love your spontaneity, spunk, and creativity.

There are many other possible adaptations of this favorite — bourbon pecan just happens to be a wonderful southern favorite — and the hickory nut can be combined with so much else to make fantastic fusions: cream, maple, and brown sugar are just a few.
If you’re a pecan pie lover, you’re most likely to be thoughtful and analytical. You are rational in situations when others aren’t, and that’s why friends and family come to you whenever they are ready to make big decisions or changes in their lives.
