If the summer heat is getting you down, you can at least take some comfort in the fact that it's pool season. Jumping right in to a massive tub of cool, clean water to escape the muggy, sweaty feeling that comes in the middle of every year has to be one of the best feelings in the world. While many of us are perfectly content with any size pool that lets us cool down when things heat up, there are some pools out there that are so amazing, they might be just what you need to convince yourself to book a flight across the world.
We've shown you some pretty amazing pools before. This one actually transforms into a fully functional patio when it's not in use! But many of the world's greatest swimming spots don't need any high-tech renovations to be remarkable. Some get their wow factor from the scenery that surrounds them, and others are even famous for their unique coloring. There are even a few that are many times as large as this pool that was built specifically for elephants!
No matter what you'd put in your dream pool, I guarantee that at least one of these will make your bucket list. Number 8 is definitely the one I need to see in my lifetime. I can't even begin to imagine what an awesome experience that would be!

1. The Gold Energy Pool (Tibet)
Found in the St. Regis Lhasa Resort, this beautiful pool is perfect for getting some much needed R&R. The water inside is saline and is thought to have numerous health benefits, and combined with its temperature of about 88 degrees, it's a great destination that's pleasing to your muscles and your eyes.
2. San Alfonso del Mar Seawater Pool (Chile)
If you've ever wanted to spend the day in a pool that truly seems to go on infinitely, it might be time to book a flight to Chile. It's the world's largest pool, stretching an entire kilometer, and contains 66 million gallons of crystal-clear seawater. Sounds like my kind of paradise!
3. Katikies Hotel (Greece)
Visiting the island of Santorini should be on everyone's bucket list, and if you're able to go one day, you should definitely book at least a night or two at the Katikies hotel. It's home to two beautiful pools, one of which is located right inside a caldera and one that's an infinity pool with a jaw-dropping view of the Aegan sea.
4. The Golden Nugget (Las Vegas, NV)
Swimming with sharks just got a whole lot easier (and safer) thanks to the famous pool in Las Vegas' Golden Nugget Hotel. In addition to a 30-foot-high water slide, the pool also boasts an incredible shark tank that allows you to come face-to-face with these prehistoric creatures with only a (sturdy) glass wall between you. They even offer tours of the shark tank for those who want to take their swimming experience to the next level!
5. The Oberoi Udaivilas (India)
Does it get any more beautiful than this? The royal look of this gorgeous hotel is part of what makes the view from the pool so breathtaking, but the sight of Lake Pichola and the Udaipur landscape doesn't exactly hurt either. Most of the pools in the hotel are only accessed by booking specific suites, so make sure to do your research if you plan on taking a dip here.
6. The Red Pool (Thailand)
Not only do you get a spectacular view of the Chaweng beach when you visit the Red Pool in the Library hotel in Koh Samui, but you also get to swim in one of the most distinctive hotel pools in the world. The red color isn't caused by the water itself, but rather by the orange, yellow, and dark red mosaic tiles on the floor. The result is a stunning sight that makes relaxing in the water a visual treat.
7. The Cambrian (Switzerland)
When your hotel is located in the Swiss Alps, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a great view of the Swiss Alps. And what better way to experience the sight while relaxing in a heated outdoor pool? The hotel also has an indoor pool and a spa, but if I ever get the chance to go, you can bet I'm going to spend most of my time checking out those snowy mountains from the comfort of a tranquil infinity pool.
8. Sanctuary Swala Camp (Tanzania)
Who could say "no" to an eco-friendly hotel in the middle of the Tarangire National Park? Not only will you get the authentic safari experience just by staying the night, but if you decide to swim in the infinity pool, you'll be overlooking a watering hole frequented by exotic birds, elephants, antelope, and more!
9. Jumeirah Dhevanafushi (Maldives)
This beautiful resort stretches across two islands and includes a luxurious spa to help melt away all your stress. But one of the coolest perks is an infinity pool that overlooks the Indian Ocean and twinkles at night thanks to the lights on the floor. Whether you prefer to relax in the massive reclining chairs that overlook it or prefer to watch the sunset from inside the starry pool, it's sure to be just what you need to give your vacation an extra touch of magic.
10. Hotel Caruso (Italy)
It's no wonder that an infinity pool situated 1,150 above the sea has the best view of the Amalfi Coast. However, that's not the only cool thing about this pool — it's also located inside a five-star hotel that was built from a renovated building from the 11th century!
11. Mardan Palace (Turkey)
Have you ever seen a pool so big that you need a bridge to conveniently cross to the other side? Located in the city of Antalya, the pool found at the Mardan Palace is one of the biggest in all of Europe. In addition to being completely massive, it also has impressive view of the gorgeous (and equally massive) hotel that surrounds it.
12. The Joule (Dallas, TX)
If you're afraid of heights, you might want to stay out of this pool that's found in what used to be the Dallas National Bank. The rest of us will fall in love with The Joule's famous blue pool that juts out of the hotel to provide a very special view of downtown Dallas. I sure hope that glass is sturdy…
