A high school principal in Pennsylvania has been charged with 30 felony sex acts after a seven-year-long "relationship" with a student has come to light. The principal and the student first began a nonsexual friendship when the student was in middle school.
Thirty-four-year-old Roger Weaver Freed was charged with 30 counts of indecent sexual contact with a student, one count of sexual assault, one count of aggravated indecent assault, one count of corruption of a minor, and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Police have revealed that Freed grew close to the boy in 2015. The boy had lost a family member and began to view the principal as an "older brother," according to police documents.
The pair began spending time away from school, and Freed would often pick the boy up and drive him to various locations so they could have conversations alone. The situation became sexual two years after they met.
Freed asked the boy, who is now in college, to keep the nature of their sexual situation a secret so that he wouldn't lose his job. The boy revealed to police that he felt guilty after the two had sex for the first time.
The two engaged in sexual activity four to five times a week for several years. The student admitted to authorities that the relationship finally ended in April 2022, after he began college.
Freed was arrested and his bail set at $175,000. He has been suspended with pay from Williamsport Area High School, where he has worked for several years.
