The number of women using donated sperm to get pregnant is rising, but many find the cost of treatment too much to bear. This has led some women to use unlicensed donors. Simon Watson, 41, has been an unlicensed sperm donor for 16 years, donating his sperm once a week. He began donating his sperm after his first marriage ended. And get this: Simon thinks he has fathered 800 children, and is looking to break the world record by exceeding 1000 "sperm babies" in the next four years.
Simon runs his donor service like an independent business. He charges about 70 dollars for a batch of his self-proclaimed "magic potion," which he sells in bottles online. Every three months, he gets tested for various diseases to make sure he's healthy, then posts his results online for the world to see.
Now divorced, Simon has three of his own children. His eldest son, Thomas, helps Simon arrange for donations by keeping track of hopeful parents who reach out via Facebook.
While Simon and Thomas are proud of the fact they've helped hundreds of families across the world, his practice has drawn much criticism. However, Simon says he has no plans to stop donating his sperm.
