Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th birthday on April 21, 2022. The milestone would be a major one for any of us and is a welcome one for the monarch, who has endured quite a tough year.
The Queen reportedly flew from Windsor Castle to her home in Sandringham and is expected to spend several days at the same home where Prince Philip lived before his death.
There will be no public celebration to mark the Queen's birthday, and it's also been recently reported that she is unlikely to attend public events in the coming months. Queen Elizabeth has dealt with both the loss of her husband and several health-related issues in the last year.
However, the palace did release a new photo of the Queen in honor of her birthday. The photo features the monarch posing with two white ponies and was shot by Henry Dallal at Windsor Castle.
It is understood that the Queen will spend her birthday with her family. Wood Farm is one of her favorite homes, as housekeeper Teresa Thompson explained. Teresa noted, "All the royal family love Wood Farm because it’s out of the way, it’s small, it’s intimate. You haven’t got lots of officials and household, it’s just close staff."
