After Jenna Reyes became pregnant with her son Raymond, she learned that her little one wasn't going to be so little after all.
In the video below, posted on May 10, 2017, Jenna recalls her reaction after giving birth: "Oh my gosh, he looks like a toddler. He’s so big!"
Jenna adds that her original expectations changed suddenly when she gave birth to her 13-pound baby boy. She initially expected a 10- to 11-pound baby to arrive and opted for a C-section.
Still, when Raymond was born weighing 13 pounds, his size astounded her and the nurses at the hospital.
"I've worked in labor and delivery for about seven years, and the largest baby I’ve ever seen was a little bit over 10 pounds," explains nurse Jessica Newton. "So, 13 pounds is a pretty big baby. I’ve never seen one that big."
While Raymond's size was cause for a stir, it also came with a few major health issues.
After his birth, the 13-pound baby was taken to the ICU and transferred to another hospital to treat his jaundice, low calcium, and low sodium levels. Luckily, this bundle of joy is completely healthy now and free to enjoy the time he spends in his mom's arms.
