High school senior Brenda Sierra is our new role model. She posed for prom pictures with her rescue dachshund and posted them to Twitter.
The pup even wore a matching gown!
Technically, Brenda accepted an invitation to the dance from her childhood friend, Rodney. She has a boyfriend, but he lives in another state and was unable to visit for the big night.
Despite officially having a human date to prom, the real belle of the ball was Brenda's dachshund, Sasha!
Like the beautiful young woman who attended prom with her service dog, Brenda wanted to make the night just as special for Sasha as it was for her.
Her school wouldn't allow her to actually bring Sasha to the prom venue, but that didn't stop Brenda from getting plenty of adorable photos in with her pup ahead of time.
Frankly, we're sure Rodney is a very nice young man. But Sasha the rescue dachshund is clearly a star!
Meet Brenda Sierra! She's an 18-year-old high school senior who lives in Tampa, Florida.
For most high school seniors, prom is the social event of the year and the perfect way to cap off four years of high school.
In Brenda's case, prom wasn't just a big night of fun with friends — it was also an opportunity to honor her beloved pooch, Sasha!
In an email to LittleThings, Brenda explains, "She has her own personality and everyone loves her… She goes everywhere with me."
Two years ago, Brenda rescued a then-5-year-old Sasha from the Humane Society.
Now, the sweet dachshund is her constant companion, and prom night was no exception! Brenda decided to make the pooch a major part of her pre-prom photo shoot.
Brenda's boyfriend Chance lives in another state and wasn't able to be there for the big night.
Instead, she accepted an invitation from her longtime friend Rodney.
Still, she was quick to inform Rodney that he was going to have to share the spotlight for their prom's photo shoot.
She tells us, "I've been friends with Rodney throughout high school, and when I told him the idea he thought it was hilarious and didn't mind."
Brenda really committed to the photo shoot from that point onward.
She loves to dress Sasha up, so when she went to get her prom dress tailored, she asked if she could keep the spare pieces of material that were skimmed off when the dress was hemmed.
She knew she could put those extra scraps to use, creating an adorable, matching gown for little Sasha!
She often dresses Sasha up, but Brenda explains, "This was the first dress I ever made for Sasha. It took the whole day, doing so, but it looks like it paid off!"
We definitely agree! Sasha's prom look is made up of a skirt with a low ruffled neckline across her chest.
The ensemble is completed by an itty-bitty rosette headband!
Unfortunately, the prom venue wasn't budging on the no-dogs-allowed policy, so Sasha didn't actually get to hit the dance floor with Brenda.
Instead, Brenda's mom brought the pooch home after the photo shoot was over.
Even though Sasha didn't actually get to go to prom, she still wins 'Prom Queen' in our book!
Clearly, Sasha is enjoying all the attention she has gotten since her adorable prom pictures took off online!
