While 3-Year-Old Is Trapped In Septic Tank, Firefighters Talk To Him About Dinosaurs

Rex Wlodyka was just playing with his brother in the backyard one afternoon when he got just a little too curious.

His father's heart sank into his stomach when his other son told him what Rex had done: He'd lodged himself into the septic pipe in their yard.

Dad ran as fast as he could to see if he could pull his son from the waste, but when he got there he simply couldn't tug his baby boy out of the septic pipe. He called 911 in a panic, and rescuers rushed to the scene as fast as possible.

When they got there, they couldn't pull the boy from the pipe, either. By this time, the boy was scared, screaming, and crying. So what did his rescuers do to calm him? Well, they talked to him about his favorite thing: dinosaurs, of course. The calm talk kept him still enough for the firefighters to carefully cut him from the pipe.

When Rex was finally freed, he was rushed to the hospital for a full checkup. That's when his mother was able to see him for the first time.

Sarah, Rex's mother, considers herself to be a really big stickler for safety, but she never imagined that her 3-year-old would be able to yank off the lid to their septic pipe.

Can you imagine if your own child got lodged in an eight-inch pipe full of waste? Thankfully, Rex escaped with just a few scratches, and his only prescription was a good, long shower.

Parents, make sure your septic pipe is secure!
