Riley Keough and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, have quietly become parents.
The news was shared by Ben while he spoke at Lisa Marie Presley's memorial service on January 22, 2023. Lisa Marie was buried alongside her father and her son at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Ben read a tribute that was written by Lisa Marie's daughter, Riley.
Riley's tribute began, "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity."
He continued, "I'm a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart."
Riley and Ben married eight years ago. They began their relationship after meeting on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road.
The pair have so far declined to share any other details about their daughter. A representative has confirmed that the two welcomed their child in 2022 but declined to offer a specific date.
Riley and Ben's daughter is the only grandchild of Lisa Marie Presley, who died on January 12, 2023. Shew as only 54 years old at the time of her death, which was the result of cardiac arrest.
Riley's letter to her mother included memories and personal details. She wrote, "I remember you giving me baths as a baby, driving me in my car seat listening to Aretha Franklin … taking me for ice cream after school in Florida. I remember you singing to me and my brother lullabies at night, and how you’d lay with us until we fell asleep."
She finished, "I remember how it felt be loved by the most loving mother I’ve ever known. How safe it felt to be in your arms: I remember that feeling as a child and I remember it two weeks ago on your couch."
