Rupert Murdoch Is Engaged To Widow Of Late Country Singer: ‘Very Nervous’

Rupert Murdoch is preparing to say "Until death do us part" for the fifth time. The media mogul, 92, is engaged to Ann Lesley Smith, the widow of country singer Chester Smith.

Rupert told the Daily Mail that the pair met at his vineyard when he threw a party in 2022.

Rupert recalled, "She and her husband also owned a vineyard and had been in the wine business. Last year when there was 200 people at my vineyard, I met her and we talked a bit. Two weeks later I called her."

He also admitted to being a bit wary of falling in love all over again. Rupert explained, "I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy."

Ann Lesley Smith also spoke about her own feelings about the pair's upcoming nuptials. She said, "I’m a widow 14 years. Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. Worked for local papers, developed radio and TV stations and helped promote Univision. So I speak Rupert’s language. We share the same beliefs."

Rupert was most recently married to Jerry Hall. They divorced after six years of marriage. Jerry was reportedly awarded approximately $300 million following their split, which is detailed above.
