This Family Of Six Converted An Old School Bus Into A Comfortable Tiny Home

I often dream about living in a mobile tiny house. Not only do they allow you to travel, but they also help to create a more simplistic life.

One family of six decided to do exactly this a year ago. Inspired by a film they watched, they relocated from their rented home and moved into a converted school bus. The DIY parents chose to completely revamp and refurbish the bus, and make it entirely their own.

The results were incredible. I love how much attention to detail they put into decorating each and every part of the home — and how, even while in a mobile home, they turned the process into a learning experience for the kids.

What I find most amazing about this tiny home is its interior. It's remarkably cozy and colorful, and yet has practical functions at the same time. Wait til you scroll further and see the pictures for yourself…

Sarah and her husband, Ed, realized that converting and living in the bus would cost less than living in their rented home in Washington.

The family purchased the school bus through a government auction, and spruced it up all by themselves.

In addition to the financial benefits, the tiny school bus home has allowed the family to spend more time exploring outdoors.

There is a full kitchen with a complete set of appliances.

The parents' bed converts into a play area during the day. There are bunk beds along the wall for the kids, and a crib for the baby.

At night, the two sleeping areas are divided by a blackout curtain. There is a composting toilet at one end of the hallway, and a 24'x32' bathtub on the other end.

All the kids are homeschooled. They are encouraged to take pleasure in and learn from the simplicity in life.

Soon, the family will be relocating back to Minnesota, their home state. However, they still hope to one day build a permanent home on their own plot of land, and live mortgage-free.
