Most people know better than to bait sea lions, but it’s tough when they’re being so dang adorable. These Russian tourists seem to have encountered one of the more playful little guys during a visit to the Galápagos Islands.
While walking by the oceanfront, the pair are approached by a sea lion who charges the young woman. She takes off running (understandably) and you can hear her expressing concerns about the animal’s intent, but it soon becomes clear that he just wants to play.
She adorably indulges his games as she pretends to run away and then scurries back up behind him until he starts chasing her again. When he decides it’s time for a break, he waddles his way back into the tide to meet his friends just below the surface.
Sea lions are sometimes anything but shy when it comes to their terrain. One co-opted the space of a lounging tourist near the waterfront, and another invited himself aboard a sailboat to take a nap on a man’s lap for an hour — both semi-rare encounters of docile sea lions who’re simply craving the attention of us land-dwellers.
