Selena Gomez Gets Candid About What Has Helped Her The Most Living With Bipolar Disorder

Actor, singer, beauty guru, and cooking show host Selena Gomez opened up to ABC News to discuss what it’s like living with bipolar disorder.

Selena really opened up about her mental health struggles in 2020 when she revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and in April 2021, she told Elle that it felt like “a huge weight lifted off of me when I found out.”

Extra shares an interview Selena did with ABC News to chat about her new company, Wondermind, which she’s launching with partner Daniella Pierson and mom Mandy Teefey. Wondermind works to provide affordable mental health resources to users.

Selena speaks candidly about all of the different ways she’s learned to live with bipolar disorder. “I do the necessary things, you know,” Selena explains. “I see a therapist. I have tons of workbooks, like a nerd. I write music. I try to take what’s going on and turn it into something beautiful, in the best way that I can.”

Through utilizing all of these tools, Selena is proud to exclaim that she is probably the happiest that she’s ever been, despite living with bipolar disorder.

A huge factor that’s been a positive life force in her mental health journey was totally logging off the internet and social media.

“I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years,” Selena explains. “It has changed my life completely. I am happier. I am more present.”
