She Was So Excited To Be A Grandmother, She Built THIS For Her Family!

“When I was 14 years old, I wrote myself a letter, which I still have,” says Jeri Wakefield. “It reads, ‘No matter what happens in my life, I pledge to be the best grandmother I can be, so when I have grandkids they will have happy memories of their grandmother and their childhood.’”

Today, Jeri Wakefield is living out her dream, alongside her husband Steve.

Nine years ago, and with the help of architect James Curvan, these proud grandparents built a tree house for their grandsons on their Dallas, TX property. What began as a simple project turned into something much greater — something that will be passed down generation after generation.

The 100-square-foot tree house is gorgeous, whimsical and fun. It features two exterior decks, two sleeping lofts and a crow’s nest.

Every year, the Wakefield family celebrates the holiday season by lighting up the tree house with 55 strands of lights, to coincide with their annual open house — when the grandsons and neighborhood children play, explore and create lasting memories

What a beautiful addition to an already fabulous family.

The suspension footbridge is a fun feature. It connects the tree house to a floating crow's nest!

The kids love to climb up to their playhouse.

The kitchen area consists of a small table and chairs and a working refrigerator. Small, homemade tablecloths with various holiday themes rotate throughout the year.

Every year, the Wakefields decorate their homes to celebrate Christmas -- with 5,600 individual white lights covering the house, plus miniature green and red lights for accents.
