If you're a parent of school-aged children, or the sort to bring lunch and snacks to work, then you know what a chore it can be to put something together, especially if you wait until the morning to do it.
That was what blogger and mom Heather Wilson found when it came to bringing snacks to work, and later, when she started packing her husband's lunch, too.
She would buy nonperishable snacks over the weekend, and then portion them out into baggies for the week. But when she stuffed them into a basket, it was hard to see what was what, and also resulted in some crushed cookies.
So Wilson knew she needed a solution, and she found it in something that's so simple, it's almost shocking: a shoe organizer! Specifically, the simple vinyl kind that hangs from the door.
It turns out that they can store more than just shoes, of course, and Wilson found it perfect for storing a few weeks' worth of pre-portioned snacks.
Check it out below, and consider a show organizer for your other, non-shoe organization needs. Try one for toiletries, craft supplies, baking supplies, and anything else that fits! Let us know your ideas in the comments.

After a period of digging around for the right snack from a basket, blogger Heather Wilson discovered that the answer was staring her right in the face: a shoe organizer!
Made for footwear, these pocket panels simply hang on the door so you can grab what you need and go. But why limit it to shoes?

Instead, Wilson arranged her pre-portioned snacks in the pockets so she could simply grab them in the morning.
The clear pockets also let her know what she had left and what she would need to replenish.

And talk about simple. You just hang it and go!
"It's a great way to save time," Wilson says. Because it's on the back of a door, it also saves a lot of space. And it proves that a DIY trick doesn't have to be complex to be really effective.

And if there was overflow, Wilson did keep a basket handy.
But with the majority of the snacks hanging on the door, whatever's in the basket is easily manageable.

Of course, snacks aren't the only things you can store in a shoe organizer.
This one stores cleaning supplies to keep them organized and out of the way.

This one stores haircare products. As an alternative to vinyl, you can also get one in fabric for a different look.

And you don't need to have a dedicated organizer, either. Every house has those little random doodads that keep getting in the way. This is the perfect place to put them!

And you don't even need to use them in the house! A shoe organizer makes for a great place to store things while camping. For camping, you can even cut it to a smaller size for more convenience.
Now that you know this super-simple organization hack, try it out! It's a great way to clear up clutter and make life a little easier, so you can spend more time having fun.
