When Matt Longelin's wife, Liz, died, he was lost. Not only did he lose someone he loved, but they had just become parents to a little girl. Their daughter, Maddy, lost her mother before she could even know her.
Liz died from a blood clot, and after her passing, Matt realized that he was facing the difficult journey of single fatherhood. His wife had been preparing to raise their child, but he was daunted by the task.
Throughout Maddy's infancy, Matt kept a blog about parenthood. Many people offered support, both written and material, by writing words of kindness and by sending him baby supplies. But he was still faced with the task of being a parent to little Maddy.
But four years later, Matt and Maddy are an adorable father-daughter pair. The single dad isn't sure how well he fared as a parent without his wife, but he says that Maddy is a happy child. He never kept her mother's death a secret from her. Matt is even astounded by how much of Liz he sees in their daughter, despite her absence. He says that many times, she reminds him of her in the best ways possible.
We can see that this father-daughter duo has many more years of happiness to come!
