Mario Dorado is an honorable tech sergeant in the U.S. military. When he came home to surprise his son at school, he didn't expect to have his own surprise as well.
Mario's deployment caused him to miss out on loads of quality family time. He was serving in Afghanistan and could only communicate with his son through phone calls and the occasional FaceTime session.
He called it "one of the hardest deployments so far."
Luckily, seven months into his deployment, Mario received some great news.
Mario got the OK to head back to the United States for Veterans Day. He was going to take advantage of the opportunity and give his son, Ezekiel a day to remember.
Mario arrived at Ezekiel's lunchroom and was greeted with the warmest of hugs. Their embrace probably lasted 20 seconds or so, but to Mario and Ezekiel, it must have felt like a lifetime.
Mario's arrival at his child's school wasn't the only shock over the next 24 hours.
The tech sergeant was about to be greeted by his other son — only he hadn't been born yet.
Within 24 hours of his surprise for Ezekiel, Mario's second child with his wife Kimberly was born. Tiny Leo Dorado was due on the 11th, and neither Kimberly nor her husband expected Mario to be home to see his second son enter the world. The timing couldn't be better.
With his family by his side and his newborn in his arms, Mario was finally home.
