5-Year-Old’s Sweet Song Brings Great-Grandmother With Dementia “Back To Life”

Sophie Flynn met her great-grandmother with dementia for the first time, and the little girl performed a sweet serenade that has touched the hearts of many people around the world.

"We were worried what her reaction would be but what happen next surprised us… a beautiful moment," her parents wrote on YouTube.

Although Brenda, 82, doesn't remember most of her family and is also blind, she instantly connected with the little girl and obviously enjoyed her singing. In the video, little Sophie strokes her great grandmother's face as she sings "You Are My Sunshine."

"Sophie just jumped straight into bed with Nana and started chatting to her and singing to her and stroking her face," Sophie's mom, Sarah Miller, told the Mirror.  "Sophie brought her back to life. It was amazing, we just couldn't believe it. When they were together it was like they were the only two people in the room."

"Nana is very scared of new people, but she was completely at ease with Sophie. She kept asking for Sophie for the two days we stayed in Norwich," Miller said.

This sweet moment has touched millions across the world and given them hope for their own relatives with dementia.
