It’s said that children grow up too soon, that one day they’re infants and the next they’re young adults preparing for college.
Take for instance a 14-year documentation of the growth of Frans Hofmeester’s daughter, Lotte. He filmed her smiling at the camera and talking about her week, every week, until she was a teenager. When he turns the footage into a time-lapse of her maturity into a young woman, we’re moved to realize that kids grow up so quickly. The below video borrows the same concept, but uses time-lapsed digital composition rather than recorded footage or imagery.
Last year, a horrific accident capsized the Sewol Ferry in South Korea, resulting in the deaths of 304 people, most of whom were students of a local high school who boarded the vessel for a class trip. The devastating event has been the root of nationwide civil unrest nearing the one-year anniversary of the event as families of the remaining missing victims call for government action.
In the video below, the artist recreates the life of one of the Sewol’s victims in a heart-wrenching tribute to her life. By the end, we’re left reflecting on the tragedy that claimed too many young lives and remembering that though time has passed, their memories remain fresh in the minds of their families and their nation. Please SHARE this incredible tribute to their memory.
